Doncaster SEND Best Practice Programme

Mar 06 09:00 - 15:30 Castle Park, Armthorpe Road, Doncaster

This programme will focus on exploring the principles of developing an inclusive school culture and a whole-school, shared responsibility for SEND.

In addition, participants will consider the evidence relating to the most powerful classroom strategies and be supported in re-imagining their approach to inclusive teaching and learning. This will include exploring how pupils acquire and retain information, adaptive teaching approaches and the effective use of scaffolding to promote greater pupil independence. A range of supportive tools and resources will enable school leaders and SENDCOs to reflect on their current practice and identify strengths and areas to further develop. This will include exploring the key features of effective implementation, with time to begin to develop an implementation plan to improve leadership, teaching and outcomes for pupils with SEND.

The programme will be underpinned by the best available evidence and will feature a range of national expert speakers and local school case studies.

Day 1: Leading an Inclusive School Culture (6.3.26) Explore leadership behaviours that shape SEND outcomes and develop a shared responsibility across your setting. Featuring expert speaker Margaret Mulholland on “Built-in, not Bolted-on” inclusion.
